Grays Point parents tend to do their homework before choosing a dojo — this page is written for them.
Grays Point is the kind of suburb where parents research a decision properly before committing, and a martial arts school is no different. We are a full-time Chito-Ryu dojo in Peakhurst, about 11 km up the road, with a verifiable lineage and a published set of standards you can actually check. A number of Grays Point families already make the trip each week.
Grays Point to our Peakhurst dojo is roughly 11 km, about a 15-minute drive for most of the day. It is an easy run for a weekday evening class or a Saturday session, and classes run Monday through Saturday so there is room to work around school and sport. The dojo is also a short walk from Mortdale Station if anyone prefers the train.

First Time at the Dojo? Here Is What to Expect
Most kids who come to us from around Grays Point Public School and the Royal National Park end of the suburb have never trained before, and that is exactly what we expect on a first visit. There is nothing to buy beforehand — no uniform, no gear — just turn up in something you can move in. Our senior instructor team runs new starters every week and settles each one in at the right level from the first session.
Three programs built around age and where each person is at — not one class with a different name on it. Everyone trains at the right level, with the right focus.

A fun and structured introduction to karate that helps younger children build coordination, focus, balance, confidence, and listening skills.
Classes run Monday–Thursday evenings + Saturday mornings
Classes run on weekday evenings and right across Saturday, which gives Grays Point families room to fit training around the school week and a sporting calendar that already fills up with soccer and cricket at Grays Point Oval.
Ready to See the Dojo? Your First Class Costs Nothing
Most people enquiring from Grays Point are parents weighing up something with genuine depth for a primary-school-aged child, though we also see teenagers and adults starting fresh. Whichever fits your household, the first class is a normal class — watch it or take part, see how the floor really runs, and decide from there.

Common questions from families and adults looking for karate training near Grays Point.
Our Kids Karate program for ages 8 to 12 combines traditional technique with character development. Children work through kata, controlled sparring, and practical self-defence while building perseverance and goal-setting along the way. The grading system gives clear milestones to work towards, so progress is something a child can see and feel rather than just being told they are improving.
It is a fair thing to check, and a lot of the martial arts industry does not hold up well to it. Our lineage runs directly to the Chito-Ryu world headquarters in Kumamoto, Japan, and Sensei Noonan's rank and appointments are independently verifiable. Every instructor on the floor trains under that same standard rather than being handed a grade.
Our Little Champions program is built for ages 4 to 7 and works on coordination, listening, and confidence through age-appropriate activities. Children then move into Kids Karate from 8 to 12, and a dedicated teen program from 13. Each stage meets children where they actually are, so a young child is never grouped in with much older students.
Yes, and plenty do exactly that. Karate sits comfortably next to team sport because progress here is personal rather than tied to a side, which many parents find balances out the team dynamic well. With weekday evening and Saturday classes, most families slot training in around the local seasonal sport without much trouble.
