Legal Information

Terms for bookings, payments, and website use

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of The Karate Institute website, free trial enquiries, communication requests, and payment-related interactions connected to dojo services. This page also includes the dojo's safety and health policies that apply to all students, parents, and visitors on the premises.

01

Acceptance of these terms

By using this website, submitting an enquiry, booking a free trial, or making a payment connected to dojo services, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use this website or submit information through it.

02

Website content and general use

This website is provided for general information, enquiries, bookings, and communication relating to The Karate Institute.

We may update, change, remove, or improve website content, schedules, programs, prices, class details, and service information at any time without prior notice.

03

Free trial bookings

Free trial requests submitted through the website are subject to availability, class suitability, and confirmation by the dojo.

Submitting a booking form does not automatically guarantee a place in a specific class or session until the dojo confirms the booking or next step with you.

We may recommend a different class time, age group, or program where that is a better fit for the student.

04

Payments

Where online payment is available, payments are processed through secure third-party payment providers such as Stripe.

By choosing to pay online, you authorise the relevant payment provider to process the transaction using the payment details you supply.

We do not store full credit card details on our own servers. Payment handling is subject to the payment provider’s own security and operating terms.

05

Payment confirmation and records

A payment receipt, confirmation screen, or successful checkout notification indicates that the payment request has been processed successfully.

You are responsible for keeping your own payment confirmation, receipt, or transaction reference where relevant.

06

Cancellations, rescheduling, and availability

Class schedules, instructor availability, and session times may change from time to time due to operational needs, public holidays, events, or other dojo requirements.

Where necessary, trial sessions or bookings may be rescheduled, adjusted, or declined if the selected option is unavailable or not the best fit.

07

User responsibilities

You agree to provide information that is accurate, current, and complete when submitting forms, enquiries, or booking requests.

You must not use this website for unlawful purposes, spam, misleading submissions, abusive conduct, or attempts to disrupt website functionality.

08

Third-party services

This website may rely on third-party services for payments, email delivery, analytics, maps, embedded tools, or other operational features.

We are not responsible for the independent policies, terms, or temporary service interruptions of those third-party providers.

09

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Karate Institute is not liable for loss, damage, interruption, delay, or inconvenience arising from website use, form submission issues, booking interruptions, payment provider issues, or temporary service unavailability.

Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian law.

10

Privacy

Your use of this website and any personal information you submit are also governed by our Privacy Policy.

You can review that policy here: Privacy Policy.

11

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to services, systems, legal obligations, or website functionality.

The latest version published on this page will apply from the date it is posted.

Dojo Safety & Health Policies

The following policies apply to all students, parents, carers, and visitors at The Karate Institute Peakhurst. They are in place to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone on the premises.

12

Blood policy

If a bleeding wound occurs during training, the affected student's participation must be immediately interrupted. Training may only resume once the bleeding has fully stopped, the wound has been rinsed with water, cleaned, and covered with a waterproof dressing.

If bleeding recurs, the above procedure must be repeated before training continues. If the bleeding cannot be controlled or the wound cannot be securely covered, the individual must not continue training for that session.

Blood spill handling procedures:

  • Gloves must be worn when handling any blood spill.
  • Confine any spills immediately.
  • Remove blood with paper towels.
  • Place all soiled waste in a plastic bag and dispose of it in the bin.
  • Rinse the affected area with detergent.

13

Drug and alcohol policy

You are not permitted to participate in any class if you are under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances.

The Karate Institute has a strictly enforced zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of prohibited drugs or alcohol in any form while training or present at the dojo.

Being under the influence while at the dojo creates the following risks:

  • Increased heart rate, risk of unconsciousness, or long-term liver damage.
  • Impaired judgment, coordination, motor control, concentration, and alertness — leading to a significantly increased risk of injury to yourself or others.
  • Neglect of responsibilities to fellow students and the instructor.

Any student found to be under the influence will be asked to leave the dojo immediately.

14

Pregnancy policy

The Karate Institute advises any pregnant student that there are inherent physical risks involved in martial arts training. Any student who is pregnant should obtain medical advice from a qualified physician before continuing or commencing training, and discuss whether it is safe to participate and, if so, for how long.

Restrictions will apply to pregnant students, including — but not limited to — the prohibition of contact sparring.

The decision to continue training during pregnancy is solely the student's responsibility. By choosing to continue, the student agrees to indemnify The Karate Institute and its instructors in relation to the pregnancy and accepts all risks involved in pursuing training activity.

The Karate Institute fully supports the student's right to make her own informed decisions about her health, her body, and her right to the benefits of an active life.

15

Entering, leaving and parking safety

The Karate Institute is located at 2/113 Boundary Road, Peakhurst. Boundary Road can be busy, particularly during peak hours. When parking across the road, please check for traffic in both directions and use the pedestrian crossing where available.

The Institute is situated in a strata complex with a driveway directly adjacent to the building. This driveway provides access to several industrial units within the complex, as well as the underground car park below.

  • Vehicles are not permitted to park or stand in the driveway at any time.
  • The driveway must not be used to drop off students — it is an active thoroughfare for multiple businesses.
  • Access from the car park to the Institute is via the stairs located in the far corner of the car park.
  • When crossing the driveway, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Vehicles frequently enter and exit via this driveway.
  • Parents and carers dropping off children must accompany them into the premises — do not drop off unaccompanied children outside.
