Loftus keeps its history alive at the old tram sheds — our dojo runs on the same respect for an unbroken tradition.
Loftus sits right on the edge of the Royal National Park, a quiet suburb that takes its heritage seriously — the historic trams still run at the Tramway Museum. There is something fitting about that for a traditional dojo: our karate is Chito-Ryu, taught in an unbroken line from Japan, with nothing invented or shortcut. We are a full-time dojo in Peakhurst, about 9 km away, and a number of Loftus families already train with us each week.
Loftus to our Peakhurst dojo is about 9 km, roughly a 14-minute drive by road for most of the day. It is an easy run to build into the week for a weekday evening or a Saturday class. Classes run Monday through Saturday, so families can settle on a regular time around school and the local sport calendar at Loftus Oval. The dojo is also a short walk from Mortdale Station, a few stops up the line.

First Time at the Dojo? Here Is What to Expect
Most people who come to us from around Loftus and the national park edge have never trained before, whether a young child, a teenager or an adult — beginners are exactly what a first class is built around. Nothing needs buying beforehand: no uniform, no gear, just something to move in. Our senior instructor team takes new starters every week and settles each one at the right level, so a first-timer is never left trying to keep up with a class that already knows the moves.
Three programs built around age and where each person is at — not one class with a different name on it. Everyone trains at the right level, with the right focus.

A fun and structured introduction to karate that helps younger children build coordination, focus, balance, confidence, and listening skills.
Classes run Monday–Thursday evenings + Saturday mornings
Classes run on weekday evenings and across Saturday, which gives Loftus families room to fit training around school, the commute, and the local cricket and netball seasons at the oval.
A Short Run from Loftus — Your First Class Is Free
Most enquiries from Loftus are parents wanting something with real substance behind it for a child, though we see teenagers and adults starting fresh too. Whichever fits your household, the first class is a normal class, not a sales pitch — you take part or watch, see how the floor actually runs, and decide from there.

Common questions from families and adults looking for karate training near Loftus.
It is the right question, and many schools cannot answer it well. Our style is traditional Chito-Ryu with a lineage running directly to its world headquarters in Kumamoto, Japan, and Sensei Noonan's rank and appointments are independently verifiable. He has trained in Japan every year for decades. That is a genuine, unbroken tradition — not a self-styled grade or an invented system dressed up as one.
Our Little Dragons program starts at age 4 and runs to 7, using age-appropriate activities to build coordination, listening and confidence while teaching basic karate movements. It is kept fun for small kids and lays the groundwork for discipline and respect. From there they move into Kids Karate at 8, then a dedicated teen program at 13, so the path is clear as they grow.
Both, done properly. We teach kata alongside its real application, with pad work, partner drills and controlled sparring once students are ready. The tradition is what makes the self-defence reliable rather than what holds it back — proper technique first, taught responsibly. It is heritage with genuine practical capability underneath, not one at the expense of the other.
Adults are a real part of the dojo. Our adult classes welcome complete beginners alongside experienced students, and many of our seniors began having never trained at all. You work on fitness, self-defence and traditional technique at a pace suited to an adult body. Some older students find the balance, flexibility and stress relief similar to Tai Chi, with genuine self-defence on top.
